I’m Brother John, the founder and winemaker at Anton Vincent Winery.

I was first turned on to winemaking by my brother, Doug, a traveling winemaker who has worked in some of the finest wineries around the world — in Napa Valley, Willamette Valley, Burgundy, and New Zealand.

After being bit by the wine bug, my obsession started as a hobby — I was making 5 gallon jugs of wine in my spare bedroom and spending all of my free time reading wine books. It slowly became apparent to me that I wouldn’t be happy until I could spend all of my time making wine, so at the age of 32 I quit my successful career in tech, and went all in with wine.

I’m certified as a Sommelier (wine expert) and I studied winemaking at Texas Tech University before starting Anton Vincent Winery.

Where does the name ‘anton vincent’ come from?

My great grandfather, Anton Vincent Weber, started farming in the midwest in the early 1900’s. With the opening of Anton Vincent Winery, I became the 4th generation Weber to work in local agriculture and to make a living off of the land.

The name ‘Anton Vincent Winery’ celebrates my great grandfather Anton for planting our family’s roots in Wisconsin, where many of our family members still live today. In opening the winery, I hope to honor Anton’s memory, as well as all of the other Weber family members who have spent their lives making Wisconsin a better place to live and work.
